BrittneyImages2Nurses play a key role in our medical institutions, and are responsible for the welfare, safety and recovery of patients. Nurses develop a plan of care, working collaboratively with physicians, therapists, the patient, the patient’s family and other team members, focusing on treating illness to improve quality of life.

Our lives have been impacted by nurses directly and indirectly. Think back to all the times you have been to the school nurse or for appointments or emergencies at a clinic or hospital. Even at birth, a nurse was there to care for you and your mother.

Metro Credit Union is proud to celebrate the role nurses play in delivering the highest level of quality care to their patients. We acknowledge the strong commitment, compassion and care nurses display in their practice and profession.

When asked on social media about the favorite part of the nursing profession as a nurse or nursing student, responses included, “Getting to meet all the people and being able to make them smile”, “Loves caring for patients,” and “Making a difference in people’s lives.”

Being a nurse isn’t glamorous, but the compassion that nurses have for their patients is inspiring. Even through long hours and tireless efforts, when asked what the most important tool in their workday is, every great nurse would surely answer, “My heart.”

In celebration of Nurses Week May 6-12, Nebraska Medicine colleagues and patients share their thoughts and thanks for the nurses who they work alongside with and who care for them in this video.

Meet the honored nurse nominees from Nebraska Medicine who were deemed extraordinary by their unit or department colleagues for Nurses Week 2015.  Thank you all for your dedication and Metro Credit Union is proud of our long relationship with Nebraska Medicine!
