Metro Credit Union has been a friend and supporter of Nebraska Medicine for many years. A recent $50,000 donation to Nebraska Medicine from Metro Credit Union will be used at Nebraska Medicine clinics for patient education purposes. A portion of the donation will also be used for patient assistance. Patient education as well as patient self-management and self-care empowers patients so that they can understand their own diagnoses. This education can also improve health outcomes.
Jan Baxter, nurse manager, says the clinic is excited and grateful for the gift. “Patient education is critical to making informed decisions about a treatment plan. Pictures are helpful, but looking at a three-dimensional model offers more clarity for understanding.”
This project is unique because it benefits both Nebraska Medicine staff and patients. You will see the following signage below at the clinics when you enter. Educational healthcare resources like the three-dimensional brain (image on the left) have been purchased with the donation making a difference in the lives of area families.
“Metro Credit Union is proud of the long-standing relationship we have with Nebraska Medicine and UNMC,” says Dustin West, business development manager at Metro Credit Union. “We were thrilled to be able to partner with them through this sponsorship to not only support them, but also the community that we both strive to serve.”
